Dongfeng Nissan: Let “Huadu-Made” New Energy Vehicles Go Global

As an auto industry leader rooted in Huadu for 22 years, Wang Qiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dongfeng Nissan, reviewed the company’s journey of deep integration and shared destiny with Huadu. To date, Dongfeng Nissan has invested nearly 30 billion yuan in Huadu, achieving win-win progress for the region and the enterprise.
In 2025, Dongfeng Nissan sold more than 600,000 vehicles, including over 70,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs), representing a 263% year-on-year growth in NEV sales, contributing to the boom of new-quality productive forces in Huadu. Three new models — N7, N6, and Teana with HarmonyOS Cockpit — became bestsellers upon launch, setting a benchmark for joint-venture NEV “new forces.” The company drove Huadu’s auto manufacturing output value to exceed 111.216 billion yuan (including 84.1 billion yuan from Dongfeng Nissan), up 2.6% year-on-year, injecting new momentum into Huadu’s economic and social development with robust industrial strength.
In 2025, Guangzhou and Huadu made remarkable progress in building a “City of Smart Vehicles,” providing a strong platform for the electrification and intelligent transformation of the auto industry. Keeping pace with Huadu’s development, Dongfeng Nissan achieved multiple breakthroughs:
  • 4 NEV models were fully defined and developed locally
  • Huadu plant’s NEV production lines continued upgrading
  • Nissan NX8, its first pure electric SUV, smoothly entered mass production and will launch in the first half of 2026
  • Sylphy topped fuel vehicle sales for six consecutive years
  • Teana with HarmonyOS Cockpit realized “equal intelligence and performance for gasoline and electric models”
  • Nissan Import & Export (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. was established, achieving a zero-to-one breakthrough in overseas business
Wang Qiang stated that Dongfeng Nissan will fully implement the work arrangements of Guangdong, Guangzhou and Huadu, focus on “technology as new-quality productive forces,” and stick to the core direction of “deepening customer-centricity and implementing the strategy of stability, transformation and expansion.” The company will fully support Huadu’s goal of reaching 100 billion yuan in NEV output value by 2030.
Under its mid-term business plan, Dongfeng Nissan will invest an additional over 10 billion yuan in Huadu for R&D and production of NEVs. In 2026, it will launch 8 new models including the new-generation Sylphy and NX8, focusing on breakthroughs in 800V high-voltage platforms, end-to-end intelligent driving large models and other cutting-edge technologies. The R&D team will expand by 1,000 people to 4,000, with 60% of staff in electrification and intelligent sectors. With Huadu as its core, Dongfeng Nissan will export NX8, N7 and other NEVs to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and other markets, striving to hit annual export targets and let “Huadu-made” NEVs go global.

BASF Guangzhou Collaborative Innovation Center

Han Wei, Vice President of BASF, Head of BASF Asia Pacific Research Institute and Shanghai Innovation Park, shared the confidence of this global chemical leader with 140 years of ties to China in Huadu’s development.
Han Wei noted that Huadu boasts unique development advantages, strong government attention to scientific and technological innovation, and full support for industry-university-research cooperation, providing an optimal environment for innovation platforms. Rooted in Huadu, BASF has expanded its partnership network and industrial chain cooperation:
  • In automotive: BASF Coatings became a strategic partner of Dongfeng Nissan in 2025
  • In green home care, daily chemicals, personal care and construction: BASF cooperated with Jinhaina, Fenhao, Adolfo, Oriental Yuhong and others to drive product innovation and green development
Last year in Guangzhou, BASF joined hands with the People’s Government of Guangzhou and Xi’an Jiaotong University — a partnership destined for success. Guangzhou’s industrial landscape serves as a high-quality “catalyst”; the resource advantages of government, enterprise and university form a precise “raw material ratio”; and the BASF Guangzhou Collaborative Innovation Center is the “fruit” of this collaboration.
Preparation for the center is progressing steadily. Next, it will accelerate three core tasks:
  1. Leverage BASF’s global R&D experience and partner with Xi’an Jiaotong University to enrich innovation carriers and build a “test field” for chemical technology innovation.
  2. Build an innovation ecosystem, deepen industry-university-research joint research, focus on advanced materials, specialty chemicals and bio-based chemicals, and form a closed loop of “basic research — achievement transformation — industrial empowerment.”
  3. Establish an open talent exchange platform, promote visits and exchanges between researchers, teachers and students, and use BASF’s global resources to cultivate a “talent pool” of chemical professionals with technical, industrial and market expertise.
The center is not only a key step for BASF in South China, but also a concrete practice to support Huadu’s “12635” industrial system and empower industrial upgrading and technological innovation. BASF hopes to inject strong chemical industry momentum into the high-quality development of Huadu, Guangzhou and Guangdong, and let the results of this “chemical reaction” benefit a wider range.

Aranya: Build Cultural and Art IP to Become a Bay Area Traffic Hub

Yu Lifeng, Vice President of Aranya Holdings Group, explained the strategic choice of Huadu Jiulong Lake as its first project in the southern market. At a key stage of national expansion, Aranya’s decision to settle in Huadu was based on in-depth consideration of corporate development logic, regional resource endowment, market demand and cooperation opportunities.
Yu Lifeng said Jiulong Lake perfectly meets all of Aranya’s selection criteria:
  • 25,000 mu of scarce lake and mountain ecological resources, a national 4A-level scenic area, large enough to be a self-contained destination
  • Convenient transportation, mature infrastructure, and a core location in the northern Greater Bay Area
  • A market gap for high-quality cultural and ecological resort lifestyle products in the Greater Bay Area, bringing unique development opportunities
“We first got to know Huadu through Jiulong Lake; after in-depth understanding, we became more determined to take root here,” Yu Lifeng said. Huadu District’s determination and actions to build a first-class business environment lead the Greater Bay Area. The region’s strategic blueprint of “important carrier of world-class tourist destinations” and “ecological and cultural tourism cooperation zone in the northern Greater Bay Area” features clear positioning and precise layout. The gathering of many high-quality enterprises fills the project with confidence.
With a total investment of 15 billion yuan, the CTS Aranya Jiulong Lake project had invested 7.46 billion yuan by December 2025, with 500 million yuan invested in 2025, focusing on the renewal of the central town and the launch of cultural formats. Plot C, Building C1-1# was awarded a Guangzhou High-Quality Development Commercial Network and received special financial support.
Adhering to “commerce first, pre-operation,” Aranya has gradually unveiled 160,000 square meters of commercial space, introducing nearly one-third of first stores in Guangzhou and the Greater Bay Area, and building a matrix of curated commerce and characteristic hotels. In 2025, it held nearly 300 cultural and art events and community activities, with annual consumer visits up 219% year-on-year and 70% of customers under 35, successfully transforming from a traditional scenic spot to a cultural lake life destination.
Yu Lifeng said Aranya will steadily advance construction, complete the first phase of main tasks by 2027, continue to build cultural and art IP, expand ecological tourism, parent-child study, business vacation and other scenarios, and strive to build the project into a traffic hub, stable tax source and important employment platform in the Greater Bay Area.
